Dark Souls 3 will apparently release 'early 2016'

There was a torrent of seemingly legitimate Dark Souls 3 details leaked 

last week, but that image above – obtained by IGN – is probably the 

strongest hint yet that we'll see a new instalment soon. What's more, 

'soon' will apparently be early next year.




I'm not sure where IGN got the image from, but 2016 seems like a very 

quick turnaround for a third instalment. From Software has already 

released PS4-exclusive Bloodborne and Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the 

First Sin in the first half of 2015. Still, Dark Souls 2 was delayed from its

 initial 2013 release window, and it's not unwise for a studio to pump 

out software while the going is good. The going is very good for the 

Souls series at present.



 Earlier rumours appeared to call into question whether the game 

would hit PC at all, but it's more likely the release window will be 

slightly different. Dark Souls – and to a lesser degree Dark Souls 2 –

 both released late on PC. Better late than never. If it's legitimate, we're

 likely to hear more next week at E3.
